The type of information we collect

Camberwell Energy only requests personal information for the purpose that it was collected or a similar activity.

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Identity Data includes first name, maiden name, last name, username or similar identifier (usually email address), marital status, title, date of birth and gender, job title and place of work, nationality;

  • Technical Data includes internet protocol (IP) address, your login data, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform and other technology on the devices you use to access this website;

  • Preference Data collected to enable the website to perform and to be administered correctly;

  • Usage Data includes information about how you use our website;

  • Job Application Biographical Data any information you might provide to us in your job application, curriculum vitae or in your interview and more generally, as part of the recruitment process, for example, test results, health questionnaires, proof of identity and professional qualifications and information that we may collect from you or from background check providers or referees;

We also collect, use and share Aggregated Data such as statistical or demographic data for any purpose. Aggregated Data may be derived from your personal data but is not considered personal data in law as this data does not directly or indirectly reveal your identity. For example, we may aggregate your Usage Data to calculate the percentage of users accessing a specific website feature. However, if we combine or connect Aggregated Data with your personal data so that it can directly or indirectly identify you, we treat the combined data as personal data which will be used in accordance with this Privacy Notice.

We do not collect any Special Categories of Personal Data (or “Sensitive” Personal Data) about you (this includes details about your race or ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, sex life, sexual orientation, political opinions, trade union membership, information about your health and genetic and biometric data and criminal convictions and offences), unless you provide this to us as part of a job application.

Special Categories of Personal Data will be processed in accordance with applicable law, this Privacy Notice, and any other privacy notice we give to you when you communicate with us.

We only collect personal data relevant to the type of transactions or interaction you have with Camberwell Energy.

Whatever your interaction with us, this information will be minimal and linked to the purpose for which we need it.

How we get the personal information and why we have it

  • Publicly availably sources such as the UK Companies House or equivalent in other countries that we do business in;

  • Recruitment agents;

  • Background screening providers based inside and outside the EU including the Disclosure and Barring Service in respect of criminal convictions or its equivalent in other jurisdictions;

  • Named referees in connection with a job application;

  • When you use Camberwell Energy’s online channels, including social media. We may also obtain personal data through your use of social media and streaming services, depending on your settings or the privacy policies of these services. We only use the information that you have given us when the law allows us to. Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we most commonly rely on for processing this information are:

  • HM Revenue & Customs, regulators and other authorities who require reporting of processing activities in certain circumstances;

  • Third parties for the purposes of processing an application to work with us such as organisations for due diligence purposes or providers of testing services and recruitment agents;

  • Regulators law enforcement agencies and other agencies and authorities such as the Disclosure Barring Service (or its equivalent);

  • Third parties to whom we may choose to sell, transfer, or merge parts of our business or our assets. Alternatively, we may seek to acquire other businesses or merge with them. If a change happens to our business, then the new owners may use your personal data in the same way as set out in this Privacy Notice.

International transfers

UK GDPR restricts transfers of personal data outside the United Kingdom (UK). This means that data may be transferred outside of the UK provided that sufficient protections are in place to give adequate safeguards to individuals rights and freedoms for their personal data. If such a transfer is needed to enable Camberwell Energy to fulfil its business obligations, Camberwell Energy shall consider, on a case-by-case basis, if and how such safeguards can be put in place in keeping with its Data Protection 2018 obligations and latest guidance from the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Data retention

We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.

To determine the appropriate retention period for personal data, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure of your personal data, the purposes for which we process your personal data and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal requirements.

In some circumstances we may anonymise your personal data (so that it can no longer be associated with you) for research or statistical purposes in which case we may use this information indefinitely without further notice to you.

In the case of an application for a Camberwell Energy job vacancy, we will retain your information for six months from the advertised job closing date after which it will be destroyed unless you request otherwise.

Your data protection rights

Under UK data protection law, you have rights including:

  • Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

  • Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. Occasionally it may take us longer than a month if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests. In this case, we will notify you and keep you updated.
